The Full Story. | | | It all started about in the early 90's when the original founder Richard Peyer had a bet with a friend to rebuild a Mk1 ford escort rally car into a circuit racing saloon car. The original Rally Escort had been nick named the “BEAST”.
In 1997 Richard asked Alastair and David to join the project. They hired a barn, wired it up and added security so the escort could be securely stored and worked on. Unfortunately the car had rusted out during its period of storage, and another shell which was required and an original RS2000 Mk1 shell was purchased.
Much of the early hard work in putting the car back together was completed by Richard and Alastair as David had little time or mechanical knowledge. In time, when greater expertise was required, Richard Moy was approached to assist in a technical capacity.
Richard Moy had a change in job and joined East Berkshire College as a motor sport lecturer. It was suggested that the Escort could be moved to the college so the students could gain practical experience working on an active race car. This meant that the more technical aspects of putting the car together could be done at a faster pace. | The car at East Berkshire College
| | The Weber carburetors were fitted and the rest of the fixtures and fittings were completed in the engine bay
| | 2000 saw Mr. Moy having a change of position becoming a motor sport lecturer at East Surrey College which made things a lot easier logistically. | The car at East Surrey College
| | Most of the earlier technical work on the mechanics and setup of the escort had been done by students at East Berkshire College but the car was completed at its new location, and many modifications and improvements have taken place since it has been at the college. |
| The start of the first Racing Season 2001 2001 was ADR’s first season racing and we decided to join the BRSCC Ford Saloon Championship. With Alastair being the only driver for 2001 we knew that ADR would not be able to attend all the race meetings and so, to relieve some of the pressures we decided that this would be a feet finding year.

| Racing Season 2002 With David gaining his racing licence at the beginning of 2002 the team could now expect to attend more race meetings, with the driving being shared between Alastair and David. In June 2002, Richard managed to acquire his licence as well. We managed to attended six racing meetings & participated in the BRSCC 50, as well as a track day in November at Goodwood. Due to a broken gearbox casing at the Brands Hatch meeting in March we missed a few meetings. We also helped out with the BRSCC - SE Marshals training in February at Brands Hatch |
| Racing Season 2003 This year all three owner / drivers will be competing in the BRSCC Ford Saloon Car Championship, the same as previous years. .The car is still being maintained by East Surrey College, Redhill, Surrey. This year sees the introduction of a change of tyre sponsor, from Hoosier to Dunlop. At the end of the racing season ADR Racing received delivery of its new car, a completely rebuilt Ford XR2i Mk3 16v, which has been built up from a bare chassis. The car has an 1800 Zetec E engine, and this means that we will be entering into Class D for the forthcoming season. | Racing Season 2004 This year only two drivers raced the new car, as Richard Peyer took a well deserved break and went off touring the world ! We went to every meeting this year apart from Anglesey, due the fact that it clashed with Alastair's wedding ! Alastair and David managed to obtain second and third in Class D for in the championship. We also helped out with the BRSCC - SE Marshals training in February at Brands Hatch |
